Ludger Beerbaum
Germany

The world’s number one ranked show jump rider today is a complete and conservative exponent of the highest possible caliber. Ludger’s countless victories include the individual gold medal at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona; individual gold at the 1997 and 2001 European championships; and the World Cup title in 1993. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Beerbaum achieved a team gold medal. His reign at the top of the world rankings is unparalleled. He made his world Cup debut in 1988 and has competed at every final since 1992.

In Geneva this past December he won for the second year running the Rolex Top Ten (reserved for the World’s top ten riders) with Gladdy’s S, having achieved the 2001 victory with his second string horse, Goldfever. Some second horse! Goldfever was top money winner in Germany (and probably the world) in 2002 with over 700,500 euro to his credit.
