Lars grew up on a pony farm in lower Saxony and was apprenticed to German national team trainer Herbert Meyer when he was 17yrs old. He subsequently studied for his Beireiter Certification with Paul Schockemhle and Aahaz von Buchwaldt and now holds the Meister title, the highest distinction one can achieve as a professional rider in Germany.

Since 1990 Lars has been in charge of Katarina Geller’s Waldershausen Stud in Homburg-Ohn. Lars won team gold in his first appearance on a German championship squad at the Atlanta Olympics with his horse, For Pleasure. Since then Lars has racked up an outstanding collection of championship team medals and Grand Prix victories, with a variety of horses. One of Lars horses, Esprit FRH, who was retired at age 18yrs in March this year, won his second Olympic team gold in Sydney. Tenth in the World cup final in Leipzip riding Adlantus As, and this year in Las Vegas, Lars finished in the top 8 in the World Cup final riding Fighting Alpha.
