Malin Baryard
Sweden

Malin Baryard’s international breakthrough came when, at the age of just 21, she came 7th with H&M Corrmint in the World Cup Final in Geneva in April 1996. At that time, Malin also had one of the world’s best speed horses, Gem Stone, whom she rode to victory in four speed jumping classes in Geneva. Malin’s overall result made her the best rider in the competition.

Between 1995 and 1997, Malin was then trained in England by one of the world’s best showjumpers of all time, John Whitaker. Thanks to John Whitaker and Malin’s unique talent, she had the opportunity to compete internationally when still very young, which gave her a fantastic start to her international career and gave her some great experience. Her greatest success to date is winning the silver in the team showjumping at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain in 2002, and winning the bronze medal for team showjumping at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Malin Baryard has had intense years in 2002 and 2003 with lots of international competitions – possibly her toughest years to date. However, her reward came in the Spanish city of Jerez when Malin, together with her star horse H&M Butterfly Flip, helped Sweden to take home silver in the team showjumping at the World Equestrian Games. H&M Butterfly Flip is now regarded as one of the foremost horses in the world and Malin Baryard as one of the world’s best riders.
