Tom Gallagher has been in the horse industry since he was twelve years old. Beggining by working in a show stable before and after school. His love of horses kept him employed through high school working with show horses and later steeplechase horses, in and around beautiful Unionville, Pennsylvania.
After a couple of years of running a breeding farm and research herds from the University of Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center, Tom and his wife to be, moved to California in 1981. Tom began working horse shows and his wife became a full time hunter/jumper trainer in southern california, working with many top trainers including the legendary Jimmy Williams.
Mr. Gallagher soon became a well known announcer and jumper judge and managed many horse shows including a series of events named the "Tommy Gallagher June Jamborees". These were fun shows with lots of partys and surprises for the exhibitors. Tom was the driving force and creative director, for eleven years, of one of the most successful charity horse shows ever held in California. The "GTE Summer Classic" raised nearly one million dollars for it's charity in its eleven year run. Tom wrote and developed special classes and time schedules to accomodate the uniqueness of this event.
In 1991 Tom and his wife moved to 140 acre farm in Washington State, and developed a hunter/ jumper business, and horse breeding operation. Tom built a five ring show grounds on the expansive property and held "A" rated horse shows in Port Angeles until his divorce in 1996. He then returned to California and continued his judging and premeir announcing position. Tom was music director for the World Cup Finals the first two years they were held in Las Vegas and was instrumental in bringing "stadium type" music to the horse shows.
Mr. Gallagher continues to work as an announcer and judge for major competitions across the United States and co-hosts a weekly television show called Show Jumping Unplugged.
